What can each of us do to have free and fair information in Malaysia?
Free and fair information (e.g. via mainstream media) is crucial for clear and transparent democracy to prevail.
We can all do our part to create such an environment in Malaysia.
Here are a few ways we can do this:
1. To support calls by NGO's, citizens, and people in the media for current restrictions to cease especially so as balance news is provided.
2. To write to our politicians to request that they hold government ministries accountable in upholding free and fair information / media.
3. To send a strong message to stakeholders that require greater convincing that as citizens we are unwilling to continue to consume media that is unable to provide free and fair information and coverage.

What can each of us do this coming weeks April 2013?
To concretely take action on the above, we have decided to go on a 3-day fast. Say what?
Yup. A "fast" of one-sided controlled media from 22 - 24 April 2013.
For example, if you believe that certain mainstream media do not provide 50:50 balance, then for these 3 days, you can stop delivery of your newspapers, refrain from purchasing such media, and not watch these news channels for the 3 days. It's really your choice, and depending on what you believe in.

What do we achieve by going on a fast of unbalanced media?
The objectives of such a "fast" are:
1. It brings about awareness that there exist other media that do provide balance coverage and information, particularly on the coming elections.
2. Such a movement like this helps to provide strong support to people in the media who are also longing for restrictions to cease.
3. By not condoning unbalanced media (even for 3 days), it provides a message to stakeholders who continue to create conditions that are unfair, unbalanced, and lacks freedom.
4. Sending a message that we citizens are willing to act as check-and-balance in a democratic society.
